About Align Family Law

Align Family Law is a family law firm with offices in Victoria and Kimberley, British Columbia. Joanne Martin founded the firm after working in the family law department of a full-service firm in the Fraser Valley, and now leads it as managing director. The practice focuses entirely on family law: separation and divorce, marriage and cohabitation agreements, adoption, committeeship, and negotiation, mediation, and collaborative family law, with litigation available when a resolution can't be reached out of court. The firm also handles fertility law, drafting surrogacy, sperm donation, and egg or embryo donation agreements for clients pursuing assisted reproduction, an area many general family practices don't cover.

The team of six lawyers works across both offices and reaches clients well beyond Victoria and Kimberley, serving Vancouver Island communities such as Nanaimo and Duncan, Kootenay towns including Cranbrook and Fernie, and Lower Mainland cities such as Burnaby and Coquitlam. The lawyers are all members of the Law Society of British Columbia and the Canadian Bar Association, and most also belong to the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals. Fees aren't limited to a single hourly model. Clients can choose flat rate packages for services like an uncontested divorce or an agreement review, or pay by the hour for full representation, with no large up front retainer required.
