About DC Law

DC Law is a solo criminal defence practice run by Deanna Cristovao out of Vaughan, Ontario, with consultations arranged across Toronto and the wider GTA rather than a single downtown location. Cristovao earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from York University, graduating cum laude, then completed a Juris Doctor at Osgoode Hall Law School. While at Osgoode, a spot in the school's Criminal Law Intensive Program, taught by Justice Vincenzo Rondinelli, put the practice's focus on criminal defence in place before the bar call in 2020. Since then, the firm has appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario.

The practice covers the full range of criminal proceedings, from bail hearings and jury or judge alone trials to Charter applications, preliminary hearings, and sentencing hearings, along with youth matters, mental health diversion, and Ontario Review Board hearings. Charges handled span impaired driving and assault through to drug, firearms, and sexual offence cases. DC Law accepts Legal Aid certificates for eligible clients and works out individualized, flexible payment plans for those paying privately.

The neighbourhood

DC Law's office sits in a multi-tenant office building on Keele Street in Vaughan, part of a roughly 84,000 square foot two-building complex built for office tenants with ample surface parking. That kind of setup suits a practice built around driving to court and meeting clients rather than walk-in traffic: Cristovao arranges consultations across Toronto and the wider GTA, so the Vaughan office works as a base for a practice that travels to court dates throughout the region instead of serving one neighbourhood.
