About Tatangelo Legal Services

Tatangelo Legal Services is a small practice on Main Street in Unionville, a historic village that is now part of Markham, Ontario. The firm handles Highway Traffic Act and other provincial offences matters, along with criminal summary offences, for clients across York, Peel, Durham, and Halton Regions. It was built around Rico Tatangelo, who worked as a paralegal in Ontario courtrooms for more than 10 years before attending law school and graduating with honours. As of September 2025, Tatangelo had also earned a second Master's degree from Osgoode Law School while registering with the Law Society of Ontario. Before that legal career, Tatangelo held the World Middleweight and Canadian Middleweight titles as a professional kickboxer.

For more serious criminal matters, the firm brings in affiliate lawyers Joanne McLean and Edwin Boeve. McLean was called to the Ontario bar in 1990 and has practised criminal law for more than 30 years. Boeve was called to the bar in 1999, holds a science degree from the University of Toronto and a Master of Social Work along with a law degree, and has argued cases at the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of Canada. The office also serves clients in Italian, Russian, and Hebrew.
