Newton HR Law is a solo human resources law practice based in Thornhill, Ontario, run by Mark Newton through a professional corporation, Christopher Mark Newton Professional Corporation, recognized by the Law Society of Upper Canada. The firm concentrates on pension, benefit and compensation matters, covering plan design and modification, governance and fiduciary duties, the pension and benefits side of labour and employment and litigation, investment compliance, corporate transaction due diligence, regulatory filings, taxation, and privacy issues tied to benefit plan administration.

Newton HR Law advises employers and institutions, drawing on strategic relationships with law firms across Canada to serve organizations in the federal or provincial sector anywhere in the country. The founder brings more than 30 years in the field, having led the national pension, benefits and compensation practice at Heenan Blaikie LLP from 2006 to 2014, the pension and benefits practice at Cassels Brock & Blackwell from 2005 to 2006, and the Canadian legal group at Hewitt Associates from 1987 to 2005 before starting the firm. Since April 1, 2014, Mark Newton has also served as Counsel to the Ottawa based firm Emond Harnden.
