About Edward L D'Agostino Professional Corporation
At Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino & Scriven, the lawyers have taken civil litigation before every level of court in Ontario and on to the Supreme Court of Canada. Partner Ed D'Agostino has been practising law since 1992.
D'Agostino's practice is civil litigation only. The focus is commercial work such as construction liens, shareholder disputes, and contract and collection claims, and D'Agostino has also developed a specialized personal injury litigation practice.
D'Agostino works closely with McCarter Grespan Beynon Weir LLP, a corporate commercial firm in Waterloo Region. Training and work experience in chemistry and industry add to that legal background, helping D'Agostino recommend pragmatic solutions to clients and represent them in court if it comes to that.
Beyond the courtroom, the firm strives to be a full service firm for its clients. The office is at 321 Edenwood Place in Waterloo, and D'Agostino is available to discuss your legal issues in confidence.
History
The firm moved into the historic Erb-Kumpf house in Waterloo in 1979 and practised law there. The house stands at 172 King Street South, on the southeast corner of King and George Streets. Abraham Erb, the founder of Waterloo, built its original part around 1812, and additions followed through the 19th century as it passed among local families including the Erbs, Devitts, Sniders and Kumpfs. The City of Waterloo designated the property under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.
The firm has carried other names over the years. It once practised as Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino, Billo & Nowak, before the shorter Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino, and today it's Oldfield, Greaves, D'Agostino & Scriven.
The work takes in jury and non-jury trials, injunction motions and appeals, plus mediations and discoveries. Cases cover a broad spread, from corporate, shareholder and insolvency disputes to personal injury, negligence and estate litigation.
Estate services take in wills, powers of attorney and estate planning, including complex estates that hold a business or a farm. Where the situation calls for it, the firm works hand in hand with your accountants or other advisers, aiming to have your estate plan reflect your wishes.
The firm represents employees as well as employers. Help ranges from planning ahead on employment contracts, workplace policies and other preventive steps to defending a human rights complaint or pressing a reasonable notice claim.
