Taheri Law Office is a sole practice in Toronto founded by Djawid Taheri, and the firm's own site describes it as the first Afghan-Canadian law firm in Canada. Taheri earned a Juris Doctor in 1999 and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University, plus a Master's in Political Science and a combined Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology, and later trained further at Harvard Law School in 2013 and at Yale University in 2014. Since 2001 the firm has practiced criminal defence, immigration and refugee law, and real estate and business law, appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Federal Court of Canada, and the Immigration and Refugee Board.

Taheri is fluent in English, Dari, and Farsi, with a working knowledge of Pashtu, languages that shape a refugee and immigration practice that has represented claimants from Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, and several other countries. On the real estate and business side, the firm handles closings for resale and newly built homes and condominiums, plus the sale, purchase, and registration of small businesses. Taheri is a founding member of the Afghan-Canadian Bar Association and has appeared on numerous Canadian radio and television programs, including a long-running spot as legal commentator on Sabawoon Radio and Television in the Greater Toronto Area.
