About MJ Lawyers LLP

MJ Lawyers LLP is a general practice law firm with an office on Corporate Drive in the Cedarbrae area of Scarborough, Toronto. The practice traces back to 1994, when Manuel Jesudasan was called to the Ontario bar and began working as a sole practitioner. That solo practice grew into an association known as Manuel Jesudasan and Associates, and later Jesudasan and other partners founded MJ Lawyers LLP. Today the firm practices in real estate, family, criminal, immigration, corporate and commercial law, and civil litigation, and it also prepares wills and powers of attorney and offers notarial services, including certification of documents as true copies.

The path to Ontario's bar was not a direct one for the firm's founder. Manuel Jesudasan was admitted as an attorney at law in Sri Lanka in 1975 and helped form a firm there, Jeganathan and Jesudasan Associates, before relocating to France and then the United Kingdom in 1979, where admission as a solicitor in England and Wales followed in 1980. Government legal postings in Seychelles came next: Jesudasan held the roles of Senior State Counsel, Chief Lands Officer and Legal Advisor to the Ministry of National Development there from 1982 to 1986, before eventually establishing the Ontario practice that grew into MJ Lawyers LLP.
