About Quinn Family Law

Quinn Family Law is a Toronto family law firm founded in 2014 by Shelley C. Quinn, who leads a small team from an office at 20 Bay Street with a second office in Barrie. Quinn graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in 1996, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998, and returned to Osgoode for a Master of Laws in Family Law the same year the firm was founded. Before practising family law, Quinn worked in the social work field with Durham Region's Department of Social Services and then worked as a litigator with the Department of Justice Canada from 1998 to 2013, appearing before courts and tribunals ranging from the Federal Court to the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

The firm's three lawyers handle the full range of family law matters, including parenting and decision-making, child and spousal support, property division, and divorce, along with cohabitation and separation agreements. They also take on grandparents' rights cases, helping grandparents who are seeking access to or custody of their grandchildren, a niche not every family law firm covers. Senior counsel Emily Kostandoff, who joined the firm in 2018, won the Canadian National Negotiation Competition in 2017 and placed second at the International Negotiation Competition in Oslo the same year. Associate Deniz Afshari, a former regulated immigration consultant, practises in English and Farsi.
