About Workplace Legal

Workplace Legal is a solo employment and labour law practice based in North York, part of Toronto. Antonio F. Urdaneta founded the firm in May 2019. The practice focuses on conduct based workplace investigations, looking into allegations of harassment, sexual harassment, discrimination, violence, and breaches of company policy, bylaws, or collective agreements. It also advises employers on workplace relations and offers training for managers, supervisors, and HR professionals, and represents workplaces before the Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, labour arbitrators, and the Ontario Labour Relations Board, among other forums.

Urdaneta trained originally in Venezuela, earning a law degree from La Universidad del Zulia and working as a law clerk in the country's specialized employment and labour courts, before moving to Canada in 2010. After completing the University of Toronto's Internationally Trained Lawyers Program and a master's degree in business law, Urdaneta was called to the Ontario bar in 2016. Memberships include the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association, and Urdaneta served as president of the Canadian Hispanic Bar Association for a term that ended in June 2021. Workplace investigations at the firm can include witness interviews conducted in Spanish.
