About Morningstar Family Law

Morningstar Family Law is an independent Toronto family law practice founded by Mason Morningstar, who has practiced family law and child protection exclusively since being called to the Ontario Bar in 2018. Morningstar earned a Juris Doctor from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2017, then worked at a small Toronto family law firm and later at Epstein Cole as a family law associate before opening an independent practice. The firm keeps its Toronto office and adds a second office in Sudbury, extending the same practice into Northern Ontario and Sault Ste. Marie.

The work covers separation and separation agreements, marriage contracts and cohabitation agreements, high net worth divorce (property division for married and common law couples, income determination, and business interests), and child protection matters. Child protection files focus on reunification, and the practice also represents extended family members, typically grandparents, aunts and uncles, who want their voices heard in a proceeding involving Children's Aid Societies. Morningstar is Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) from Mississaugi First Nation in Blind River, Ontario, and states a special interest in family law and child protection issues affecting First Nations peoples and Bands. The firm also takes on discrete work for other lawyers, including factum drafting, legal research, and second chair courtroom support.
