Morin Charnetski Ceroni LLP is a Toronto entertainment law firm formed by three partners: Gigi Morin, Lorri Charnetski, and Kathy Ceroni. Morin was called to the Ontario Bar in 1997 and became a founding partner of Duncan Morin LLP in 2000, a Toronto entertainment law firm where Morin practiced for 22 years before it wound up in September 2022. Charnetski holds a B.A. from the University of Toronto (1992) and an LL.B. from Queen's University (1995) and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Ceroni is a graduate of McGill University and the University of Western Ontario law school and was also called to the Ontario Bar in 1998. Together the three bring more than 60 years of combined in-house and private practice experience to the firm.
The practice covers the full range of entertainment and media work: development and rights acquisition, financing and international co-production, production and post-production matters including talent employment and music licensing, distribution and broadcast agreements, licensing and merchandising, corporate matters, and representation of creators and artists. The partners have negotiated agreements with talent guilds and production service unions, and Morin and Charnetski have each been recognized in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory for entertainment law. The office is at 60 Atlantic Avenue in Toronto's Liberty Village.
The firm's office at 60 Atlantic Avenue sits inside a converted heritage building in Liberty Village, once a factory reflecting the neighbourhood's industrial past. A renovation by developer Hullmark turned the former factory into about 27,500 square feet of office space along with street level retail and restaurant space, and the neighbourhood has a long history as a creative community, now home to design studios, production houses, and technology companies alongside older industrial buildings. That mix puts an entertainment law firm within an area where a good share of its potential clients already work.
