Before co-founding Lumen, Fard worked across corporate, commercial, tax, and intellectual property law. Yun is fluent in English and Korean, and Fard is fluent in English and Filipino, and conversant in Spanish and French.

That mix of small, owner-run retailers and corporate office space is a fitting backdrop for a firm built around advising small and medium sized businesses rather than large public companies.
Yorkville grew out of a Victorian residential suburb annexed by Toronto in the 1880s. It only became a commercial district after subway construction in the 1960s and 70s let the city rezone for greater density, and many of the homes along Yorkville and Cumberland were converted into shops. The neighbourhood's transformation from a village of houses into a business address is a piece of local history the firm's own street now reflects.
