Landlord Legal is a small Toronto practice run by Allistair Trent, who has represented landlords and real estate professionals in Ontario since 1990. Trent started that year as Manager of Legal Services for Rent Check Credit Bureau, then moved into private practice in 1995. Trent is licensed to provide legal services by the Law Society of Ontario and also holds a Realtor designation, specializing in investment properties. The office is on Bay Street in Toronto, and the practice takes clients from across Ontario rather than a single neighbourhood.

The work centres on residential tenancy disputes: evictions, landlord defence at the Landlord and Tenant Board, applications to raise rent above the provincial guideline, and related matters at the Human Rights Tribunal, Small Claims Court, and under the Provincial Offences Act. Trent has taught an accredited Residential Tenancies Law course for realtors through the Real Estate Council of Ontario and presented on abatement liability and smoke free premises at the Law Society of Ontario in November 2009, after a case that established a tenant could be evicted for breaching a no-smoking lease term. Several of the practice's cases have been reported in Ontario law reports, and its landlord-side work has drawn Toronto Star coverage going back to the 1990s.
