About Jonathan Kline Family Law P.C.

Jonathan Kline Family Law is a solo family law practice based in downtown Toronto. Jonathan Kline founded the firm in 2010 and has practised family law exclusively since being called to the bar in 2008. Before setting up an independent practice, Kline worked at a law firm that focused on high-conflict parenting cases, an early experience that shaped a view that separation and divorce, however difficult, aren't automatically traumatic outcomes for a family.

The practice takes on the full range of family law work, from amicable separation agreements to complex, high-conflict litigation, and has handled both difficult parenting disputes and complicated financial issues. One reported decision, Olson v. Anderson, preserved a client's spousal support entitlement after a long-term relationship, with the court applying the Spousal Support Advisory Guidelines to reach its result. As a single-lawyer firm, clients deal with the same lawyer from the first consultation through to resolution.

The neighbourhood

The firm's office is in the Robertson Building at 215 Spadina Avenue, a warehouse built in 1911 as the headquarters and showroom of the James Robertson Company, a manufacturer of plumbing fittings and fixtures. The building sits in what's now called Toronto's Fashion District. It has since been restored, with its original brick, wood floors, and Douglas fir posts and beams kept intact, and is now home to a mix of small community organizations and offices rather than manufacturing tenants. Jonathan Kline Family Law's Spadina Avenue office, listed in 2023, is in this building.
