About Hershberg Law

Hershberg Law is a Toronto based criminal and quasi criminal defence practice built around Jeff Hershberg. The firm's main office is at 480 University Avenue in downtown Toronto, with a second Toronto location on Lombard Street and a Vaughan office on Highway 7. From there it takes on matters for clients across the Greater Toronto Area, including Newmarket, Oshawa, and Brampton. Hershberg practises exclusively in criminal and quasi criminal law, from bail hearings and assault charges through to weapons, drug, and homicide matters.

Hershberg earned a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from York University in 1994 and a Bachelor of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2000, then articled and became an associate at Pinkofskys Criminal Trial and Appeal Lawyers, at the time Canada's largest criminal defence firm, making partner there in 2008. That firm was renamed Rusonik, O'Connor, Robbins, Ross, Gorham & Angelini LLP in 2010, and Rusonik, O'Connor, Ross, Hershberg, Ghebrai & MacDonald LLP in 2025, where Hershberg is now a name partner. Hershberg also sits on Legal Aid Ontario's Extremely Serious Matters Panel, reserved for lawyers approved to take on the most serious criminal trials under legal aid certificates, and has been selected by peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in Canada.

The neighbourhood

The firm's main Toronto office sits at 480 University Avenue, part of the building known as 480 Law Chambers, in downtown Toronto. A second Toronto address is on Lombard Street. Having two Toronto locations gives clients a choice of downtown meeting points in addition to the Vaughan office.

The Vaughan office, on Highway 7, gives the firm a second point of contact in York Region rather than requiring every client north of Toronto to travel downtown for a meeting. Between the two Toronto locations and Vaughan, the firm covers clients from Newmarket and Oshawa through to Brampton without being tied to a single courthouse.
