Heer Law is a Toronto intellectual property firm that Christopher Heer founded in 2014, after about ten years practising IP law on Bay Street at Bennett Jones LLP and Dimock Stratton LLP. Heer studied computer engineering at the University of Waterloo, then earned a law degree at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law, and in December 2013 the Law Society of Upper Canada designated Heer a Certified Specialist in Intellectual Property Law (Patent). The firm has grown to seven intellectual property lawyers alongside registered patent and trademark agents, and it works with clients directly rather than routing files through foreign associates.

The practice covers patents, trademarks, copyright, industrial designs, IP litigation, and IP agreements, with particular depth in computer related technologies such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and fintech. Heer Law also builds sector specific IP knowledge in industries including cannabis, fashion, beauty, specialty food brands, art, health and wellness, and green technology. The firm is ranked Tier 1 in the Elite Boutique category for intellectual property in the Legal 500 Canada 2026, and it also appears in the World Trademark Review 1000 and the IAM Patent 1000. Its office is in Victoria Tower, a high-rise built in 1927 at 25 Adelaide Street East in downtown Toronto.
