GTA Defence Lawyer is the practice of Shaleem John Gill, a sole practitioner who handles criminal defence matters across the Greater Toronto Area from an office in downtown Toronto. The practice has run as Shaleem John Gill Professional Corporation since 2018. Before that, Gill spent 2016 and 2017 as an articled clerk with Nadir Sachak and Elham Ellen Jamshidi, working on cases that included murder, impaired driving, and firearms charges. Gill still works in association with those two lawyers while running an independent caseload, and takes on bail, assault, robbery, theft, fraud, drug, firearms, and impaired driving matters.

Gill's legal training crossed two countries: an Honours Bachelor of Arts from McMaster University, a law degree from the University of Southampton in England, and a Master of Laws from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. The office is in University Avenue Chambers at 55 University Ave., a shared floor of criminal law practices that, according to the firm's own site, houses more than 30 other criminal lawyers. Gill is also a member of the Criminal Lawyers' Association and the Peel Law Association.
