Doug Gosbee runs a sole-practitioner criminal defence practice on the western edge of Toronto, in Etobicoke. Gosbee graduated from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto in 1991, was called to the Ontario Bar in 1993, and has practiced criminal law exclusively since then, taking on cases in courts across Ontario and Quebec. The firm doesn't operate with a team of junior lawyers; clients who retain the firm work with Doug Gosbee directly, from the first consultation through to trial.

The practice covers the full range of criminal matters, from theft, fraud, and impaired driving to drug offences, firearms charges, sexual offences, and homicide, and it represents both adults and youths. Case summaries posted on the firm's site date back to the late 1990s and include trial acquittals, a stayed prosecution after a successful Charter delay application, and a 2016 ruling that struck down a mandatory minimum sentence for marijuana production as unconstitutional.
