About KDB Law

KDB Law is a small firm in Stratford, Ontario, handling corporate and business law, wills and estates, employment law, real estate, landlord and tenant matters, and agricultural law, along with mediation and small claims work for clients across Southwestern Ontario. Katie DeBlock Boersma founded the firm after building a practice for several years at Monteith Ritsma Phillips in Stratford. DeBlock Boersma grew up on a farm near Mitchell, Ontario, and decided to become a lawyer at age 7, later attending Osgoode Hall Law School before returning to Perth County. KDB Law first opened in a black and white Tudor style house at the corner of Ontario and Erie Streets in downtown Stratford and now operates from Albert Street.

The firm's agricultural law work draws on that rural background, and DeBlock Boersma is a certified mediator who focuses on workplace disputes and farm succession conflicts within families. The team has grown to include several lawyers along with paralegal and law clerk staff, some of whom also grew up in Perth County farm families. In 2024, KDB Law introduced a $5,000 scholarship to help women pay for law school and connect with the firm's team, then expanded that idea into a standing mentorship program in January 2025 for anyone considering work as a lawyer, law clerk, or paralegal in Southwestern Ontario.
