About Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic

Huron Perth Community Legal Clinic has served low income residents of Huron and Perth Counties since the fall of 2002. It's a non-profit corporation funded by Legal Aid Ontario, staffed by a team the clinic describes as three lawyers, a paralegal, and an office manager, together with numerous volunteers, and directed by a volunteer Board of Directors elected by the clinic's own membership. The clinic works from offices in Stratford and Goderich, with outreach clinics held by appointment in Clinton, Listowel, Wingham, and Exeter.

The clinic gives legal advice, helps people fill out forms, and represents clients at some tribunals and courts, focusing on Ontario Works and ODSP problems, employment and workplace issues, landlord and tenant disputes, Canada Pension Plan claims, and powers of attorney. It also provides general legal information on topics such as family law, immigration, and human rights, and refers people elsewhere when a matter falls outside what it can take on. Along with the Elgin-Oxford Legal Clinic, it runs the Sexual Harassment in the Workplace Project, giving public legal education and advice on workplace sexual harassment across both clinics' service areas.
