About Mehta Family Law

Mehta Family Law is a family law firm based in Mississauga, Ontario. Shilpa Mehta founded the practice in 2018 after working at a larger family law firm in York Region, holding a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science and a Bachelor of Education from York University, along with an LL.B. from the University of Windsor, and has more than a decade of experience in family law. Mehta has trained in collaborative family law dispute resolution and also has litigation experience, so the firm can work toward a negotiated settlement or take a matter to court, depending on what the situation calls for.

The firm's associate lawyer, Anna Taghavian, took a different path into family law, holding an Honours Bachelor of Science in psychology and criminology from the University of Toronto, a paralegal diploma from Seneca College, and a law degree from the University of Sussex in the UK, with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University now in progress. Earlier work included criminal and immigration law, articling with the Crown Attorney's office, and time with the Ministry of the Attorney General and the Children's Aid Society of Toronto. Mehta Family Law handles contested and uncontested divorce, separation, parenting and decision making, child and spousal support, property division, and the enforcement of family court orders.
