Eugene Bhattacharya operates a sole criminal and administrative law practice out of Mississauga, in Ontario's Peel Region, where the practice has been based since 1988. The work centers on criminal defence, covering charges from impaired driving and domestic assault to fraud, weapons and drug offences, alongside professional discipline and regulatory matters heard before bodies like the Licence Appeal Tribunal, the Law Society of Ontario Tribunal and the Justices of the Peace Review Council. Family law is a third pillar, with trial experience in both the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice, including child protection matters against Children's Aid Societies.

Bhattacharya immigrated to Newfoundland as a child and studied science at Memorial University before earning a law degree from the University of New Brunswick in 1986. After articling in Corner Brook and being called to the Newfoundland bar in 1987, Bhattacharya articled again in Hamilton and was called to the Ontario bar in 1988, the same year the Peel Region practice opened its doors. Time away from formal legal work has included a stint as a professional musician and, while still in law school, service as a Special Constable with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police.
