Michelle Johal Law is a Brampton based criminal defence practice with offices in Newmarket and Mississauga, serving clients across the Greater Toronto Area. Michelle Johal was called to the Ontario Bar in November 2002 after an Honours Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto and a law degree from Queen's University, where Johal worked at the Queen's Prison Law Clinic advising inmates at Kingston area penitentiaries. Johal articled at Hicks Morley Hamilton Stewart Storrie LLP on Bay Street and practiced labour and employment law at Rubin Thomlinson LLP before moving into criminal defence in 2005. Johal spent about seven years as a criminal law associate in Scarborough, handling more than a thousand cases, before starting an independent practice in mid 2011. The firm now practices exclusively in criminal law, from driving offences to domestic assault, theft, and youth court matters.

The practice includes an articling student who is clients' first point of contact and keeps them updated as a case moves through the courts. Johal serves as Vice President of the Criminal Lawyers' Association and has instructed the Trial Advocacy course at Osgoode Hall Law School since 2019. Johal also comments regularly on criminal justice issues for national media, including CBC News Network, CTV News, Global News, and TVO's The Agenda with Steve Paikin.
