Batasar Law is a sole-practitioner criminal defence firm at 27 John Street in downtown Brampton. Gary Batasar has represented people facing criminal charges in the city since 1998, working almost entirely out of the Brampton courthouse. After graduating and completing articles, Batasar chose not to join a corporate firm in downtown Toronto and instead built a practice in Peel Region, becoming, according to the firm's site, the first lawyer of South Asian origin there to practice criminal law exclusively.

Batasar studied political science and international relations, with a minor in criminology, at the University of Toronto, then attended Queen's University Law School, focusing on criminal law under professors including Don Stuart. While at Queen's, Batasar founded the Queen's Criminal Law Association in 1994, which the firm's site says is still active today. The firm's site also states Batasar has handled more than 20,000 cases, including over 30 homicides, played a role in the 2006 Toronto 18 terrorism trial, and has appeared on CNN and Larry King Live.

The practice is limited to criminal law: bail hearings and reviews, domestic and sexual assault, impaired and dangerous driving, and youth charges. Batasar Law does not accept Legal Aid certificates and offers private representation only, with a complimentary consultation for prospective clients by phone, text, or email.
