About Supreme Law Group

Supreme Law Group is a small Ottawa firm that works exclusively as agent counsel before the Supreme Court of Canada, assisting lawyers from across the country rather than the general public. Founder Moira Dillon set up the firm as, by its own account, the first law firm in Canada dedicated exclusively to the practice of Supreme Court agency law. Dillon graduated magna cum laude from the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law, holds an honours degree in political science and Spanish from the University of Toronto, and was called to the Bar of Ontario in 1996. After being called to the bar, Dillon practised law with the Ottawa office of a large national firm before founding Supreme Law Group.

The practice covers leave to appeal applications, appeals with or without leave, responses to leave applications, and interventions and motions at the Court, along with factum drafting, document preparation, filing, and courtroom agency work on files spanning criminal, constitutional, labour, intellectual property, contract, and commercial law. Two law clerks support the practice: Steven van Dijk, who has more than 20 years of experience in Supreme Court agency work, and Nick Frizzell, who has more than 6 years. The firm's office is on Laurier Avenue West, Suite 200, in downtown Ottawa.
