About Prior Law

Prior Law is a sole-practitioner employment law firm in Ottawa, run by Luke Prior. The main practice represents employees only, handling constructive dismissal, employment standards complaints, severance package reviews, and human rights matters under Ontario and federal law. Prior Law separately offers services to unions and employers, including collective agreement negotiations, grievance and arbitration representation, and workplace accommodation and human rights matters.

Luke Prior's interest in workplace law began as a teenager, working in a university's labour relations department. After several years of education at Ottawa's two universities and with mentorship from workplace law practitioners in the community, Luke Prior articled at Emond Harnden, an Ottawa labour and employment law firm, before opening this practice. Prior Law also takes on contract research and drafting work for other lawyers and law firms across Ontario, and offers virtual, telephone, or in person meetings for its own clients.
