About Menendez Law

Menendez Law is a solo immigration and refugee law practice run out of downtown Ottawa. The firm belongs to David Menendez, whose family immigrated to Canada from Colombia. Growing up as a newcomer instilled a passion for helping others who leave everything behind to find safety in a new country, and that focus still runs through the practice. Menendez graduated from the University of Ottawa law school and has since guided hundreds of refugee claimants from around the world through their cases.

The practice concentrates on refugee protection, including preparing claims and getting clients ready for hearings before the Refugee Protection Division, along with related immigration work: visitor visa extensions, humanitarian and compassionate applications for permanent residence filed directly with Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, and standard permanent residency applications. Menendez Law accepts Legal Aid Ontario certificates as well as privately paying clients and offers service in English and Spanish. The office is at 17 York Street, Suite 405, and meetings don't have to happen in person; the firm also works with clients virtually.
