The Law Office of G. Todd Barney is a solo personal injury practice in Manotick, a village on the southern edge of Ottawa. Todd Barney is Ottawa born and raised, studied social sciences with a focus on economics at the University of Ottawa, and earned a law degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1992, followed by a call to the Ontario Bar in 1994.

Barney's career moved through three stages: sixteen years at the Law Offices of J. Arthur Cogan QC, three years at a mid-sized Ottawa firm, and then an independent practice. The focus has stayed almost entirely on personal injury, especially medical malpractice and motor vehicle collisions, with added experience in birth injuries, disability insurance disputes, and product liability. Barney served as co-counsel on the first certified class action to proceed to trial and appeal in Ontario under the Class Proceedings Act, 1992, and has appeared before the Supreme Court of Canada, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Superior Court of Justice. With 30 years now in personal injury law, the firm offers a free initial consultation, works mainly on contingency with no fees owed until a case settles, and will meet clients at home when an injury makes travel difficult.
