About Kenny Family Law

Kenny Family Law is an independent Ottawa practice founded by Martin Kenny in 2016, who currently works in association with Richard Bowles and Sarah Kennedy. Kenny was called to the bar in 2007 and spent 2009 to 2015 as an associate in Ottawa, working with lawyers Sean Jones and Richard Bowles, before opening the practice. The firm's main focus is family law, covering custody and access, child support, spousal support, and equalization of net family property, and it has taken on a growing number of estates matters. Kenny Family Law serves Ottawa along with Kemptville, Brockville, and the communities in between, and offers unbundled, limited scope retainers for clients who want help with only part of a case.

Before turning to law, Martin Kenny worked as a stage and production manager in Toronto, including for Young People's Theatre and the Toronto International Film Festival, and in a similar role in Alberta at the Banff Arts Centre. Kenny Family Law's approach combines negotiation with litigation and arbitration experience, and the firm's website describes the goal as explaining, in plain language, what the law is and why, so a client understands the options before deciding how to move forward.
