Josiah Thorogood, Barrister & Solicitor is a solo practice based in Ottawa, licensed by the Law Society of Ontario since the fall of 2019. Thorogood earned a law degree from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, with law school internships at the New Hampshire Department of Labor, Journey's End Refugee Services in Buffalo, and the Disability Rights Center-NH. Before returning to Ontario, Thorogood worked as a Staff Attorney at the Legal Aid Society of Mid-New York in Syracuse for more than three and a half years, managing a caseload of disability benefit cases for low-income clients.

The current practice began in June 2021 and focuses on charity, church, and non-profit law alongside employment law. Work includes helping new organizations incorporate and apply for charitable status, guiding established charities and churches through by-law updates and CRA compliance, and drafting employment contracts, volunteer agreements, and employee manuals for employers and employees. All client meetings are held over Zoom or other digital platforms, so the firm serves organizations across Ontario rather than a single local area.
