About Elkin Injury Law

Elkin Injury Law, Barristers, Professional Corporation is a personal injury and insurance law practice based in St. Catharines, Ontario. William F. Elkin founded the firm, which has represented plaintiffs across the Niagara region for more than 30 years. The practice works exclusively for people who have been hurt, not for insurers, and takes on motor vehicle accident claims, WSIB claims, slip and fall and other premises cases, dog bites, unsafe products, short-term and long-term disability disputes, income and economic loss claims, and dental malpractice claims.

The team includes lawyers whose training reaches beyond the courtroom. Roelf Swart studied at the University of Toronto before earning a law degree at the University of Western Ontario, and spent summers helping update the loose leaf edition of Insurance Law in Canada before moving into practice at a Hamilton firm focused on accident benefit insurance. Steven Venhuizen, a Brock University graduate, went on to Osgoode Hall Law School and was called to the bar in 2007 after articling at Elkin Injury Law. John Turner worked as a licensed paralegal and taught civil litigation part time at Niagara College before completing a law degree at the University of Ottawa. Because the office sits close to the Canada-United States border, the firm also takes on cross-border claims, coordinating with counsel on either side when a client is injured away from home.
