About Hassaan & Associates

Hassaan & Associates, P.C. is a full service firm with offices in Milton and Grimsby, Ontario. Fayrouse (Fay) Hassaan founded the practice in Oakville in August 2005. Hassaan holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in political science and philosophy from the University of Western Ontario, a law degree from the University of Windsor, and a Master of Laws in transnational business practice from the University of the Pacific's McGeorge School of Law, and was called to the Ontario bar in July 2003.

The firm relocated to Milton in 2007 and grew by taking over two retiring solicitors' practices there, a 40-year wills, estates and real estate practice in 2009 and a second retiring solicitor's practice of more than 40 years in 2011, before expanding into Grimsby in 2022. The two-lawyer firm now covers real estate, family law, criminal defence, immigration, wills and estates, business law and civil litigation, and its website carries an Ontario land transfer tax calculator for real estate clients. One associate, called to the Ontario bar in 1999, speaks Arabic and had previously practiced in Windsor, including a stint as review counsel at a legal aid clinic.

The neighbourhood

The Milton office has been the firm's base since 2007. Milton was the fastest growing municipality in Canada between 2001 and 2011, and it is the western terminus of GO Transit's commuter rail line, about 54 kilometres from downtown Toronto along Highway 401. That kind of growth keeps the firm's real estate practice busy with a steady mix of new subdivisions and resale homes, alongside family and wills work for a population that keeps expanding.

The Grimsby office sits on Main Street West. The area includes surviving heritage structures such as Nelles Manor, completed in 1798, the Nelles-Fitch House from about 1791, and St. Andrew's Anglican Church from 1825. The town grew up as a centre of Niagara Peninsula fruit farming and now markets itself as a starting point for touring the Niagara wine region, with Lake Ontario along its north edge and the Niagara Escarpment along its south. Grimsby's population passed 28,000 in the 2021 census.
