About McGill Law Firm

McGill Law Firm is a solo administrative law practice in London, Ontario, run by Robert A. McGill. McGill opened a general litigation practice in London in 1993, the year of being called to the Ontario bar, and took on a range of legal matters including early Workers Compensation claims. That work gradually became the focus of the practice, and by the early 2000s McGill's docket had narrowed almost entirely to representing injured workers before the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and the Workplace Safety and Insurance Appeals Tribunal (WSIAT), along with related Canada Pension Plan disability appeals.

McGill holds a B.A. (Hons.) in political science from York University (1988) and an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario (1991), and was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1993. In March 2011, the Law Society of Upper Canada certified McGill as a Specialist in Workplace Safety and Insurance Law, a designation held by only a small number of lawyers in Ontario. McGill has argued hundreds of cases across the Workers Compensation appeals system and is counsel of record on dozens of reported WSIAT decisions. McGill also advises personal injury litigation lawyers on section 31 right to sue applications under the Workplace Safety and Insurance Act, and the firm's two law clerks, Candace and Kala, support the WSIB and CPP disability caseload.
