About Libertas Law

Libertas Law is a solo civil liberties and Charter litigation practice in London, Ontario, run by lawyer Lisa D.S. Bildy. Bildy graduated from Western Law School in 1993 and articled at Seabrook Epstein Ste. Marie & Miller in London, working there as a trial lawyer from 1993 to 2000. Bildy then stepped back from full time law practice for more than a decade, homeschooling children and taking on part time legal work. In 2017, Bildy took on the campaign manager role for StopSOP, an effort to elect Law Society of Ontario benchers opposed to a mandatory Statement of Principles for lawyers. Bildy joined the Calgary based Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms as staff counsel starting in 2019, then struck out independently in the fall of 2021 to found Libertas Law.

Libertas Law concentrates on five areas drawn from its own website: Charter litigation against government action, professional regulation and administrative law including judicial review, employment and human rights law, defending clients facing public 'cancellation' campaigns, and tort claims on clients' behalf. Bildy is an elected bencher, or governor, of the Law Society of Ontario and sits on the board of advisors for FAIR, the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism. Canadian Lawyer magazine profiled Bildy in April 2021.
