About Griesdorf & Counsel

Griesdorf & Counsel Estate Litigation and Mediation Professional Corporation is a solo estates practice in Kingston, Ontario, seeing clients across Eastern Ontario by appointment only. The firm was established in Kingston in 2004 by Wendy Griesdorf, a lawyer certified by the Law Society of Ontario as a Specialist in Estates and Trusts. Griesdorf holds an Honours BA from the University of Toronto (1990) and an LLB from Osgoode Hall Law School (1993), and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995. Estate litigation work began on Bay Street in Toronto and continued until 2001, followed by an appointment as adjunct professor of estate litigation at Osgoode Hall Law School.

The Kingston practice has been limited to estate litigation and mediation since it opened in 2004, and a mediation certificate followed in 2002. Recognition in Best Lawyers in Canada for Trusts and Estates has continued every year since 2014. As of 2026, the firm added a collaborative estates law stream: new private clients are taken on only where the goal is an out of court, collaborative resolution, while mediation work and confidential strategy consultations for other lawyers continue as before. Griesdorf has also held past roles as a sessional instructor at Queen's University and a deputy judge of the Frontenac County small claims court, both now concluded, and has delivered more than 20 presentations on estates, mediation, and elder law topics since 2000.
