About Fazakas Law

Fazakas Law is a Hamilton, Ontario firm that focuses on estate litigation, estate mediation, and estate administration. Derek Fazakas, who was called to the Ontario bar in 1996, leads the practice and brings over 20 years of estates experience to the work, handling will contests, dependant's relief claims, trustee accountability, and disputes over powers of attorney and guardianship. Since 2015, Fazakas has also worked as a mediator focused specifically on estate disputes, giving clients an alternative to full litigation when they need to settle a disagreement over a will or an estate.

Fazakas wrote Wills and Estates, a textbook for law clerks published by Emond Montgomery, and it's now in its sixth printing. Fazakas is also a former instructor for law clerks studying estates law. Anne Torrie, the firm's office manager, has worked at Fazakas Law for more than 20 years and handles its estates, litigation, insurance, and court practice administration, along with accounting and records. The office is on King Street West in Hamilton's Westdale Village, and the firm serves clients across Hamilton, the Golden Horseshoe, and southern Ontario.
