About Charuk Family Law

Charuk Family Law is a small family law and estates practice in Ancaster, Ontario, a community that amalgamated into the City of Hamilton in 2001. Founder Ted Charuk has practiced family law in the Ancaster area for more than 25 years, after earlier work at both larger firms and smaller firm settings. Charuk holds an LL.B from Queen's University and an LL.M from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University. The practice handles divorce, child custody and support, spousal support, property division, cohabitation and prenuptial agreements, and protection orders.

The firm also does wills and estates work, including powers of attorney, trust disputes, guardianship, and elder law, so a client can bring both a family law and an estate question to the same office. Ted Charuk works as a mediator and arbitrator, using alternative dispute resolution to help both sides reach settlement terms, and turns to the collaborative law process or a court appearance when a file calls for it. It's a small team: Julie Huddleston, who joined the practice after Mohawk College, and Elizabeth (Liz) Drumm both work on family law and wills and estates matters alongside Charuk.
