About TSJ Law

TSJ Law is a small family law and estates practice based in Oakville, Ontario. Thijiba Sinnathamby opened the firm in January 2020 after articling at an estate litigation firm in Toronto, and started out running the practice from a home office before moving into office space in Oakville. Sinnathamby holds a J.D. from the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law, a Master of Education from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, and an Honours B.A. from the University of Toronto, and is also a Professor and Program Coordinator of the Family Legal Services Provider program at Fanshawe College, where the course load includes Substantive Family Law I and II.

On the family law side, the firm negotiates and drafts marriage contracts, cohabitation agreements and separation agreements covering parenting, support and property division, and tries to resolve those matters without going to court. It does not currently take on family law litigation files or legal aid certificates. Its estates work covers wills, powers of attorney, and estate administration and probate, along with appointments as litigation guardian or Section 3 counsel for people found incapable in more complicated estate files. Sinnathamby also runs Kaivani Consulting, delivering trauma-informed training on family law and gender-based violence topics to other legal and community organizations.
