Mount Forest is part of the Township of Wellington North, at the junction of Highway 6 and Highway 89, and the village sits on a height of land close to the headwaters of the South Saugeen River. Sitting in the western Dundalk Highlands, it ranks among southern Ontario's highest towns. The Palmerston office is at 233 Main Street, in a community on the southern edge of Minto in northwestern Wellington County that was a key division point for the Grand Trunk Railway and later Canadian National.
