About Centre Wellington Family Law

Centre Wellington Family Law is a solo practice in Fergus, Ontario that takes on family law and nothing else. Its founder, Valeria Consales, LL.B., built the firm around that single focus, so every file is a family matter. The work spans separation and divorce, cohabitation and marriage contracts, division of family property, decision-making responsibility and parenting time, child and spousal support, and adoption. Depending on what a client's situation needs, matters are resolved through litigation, negotiation, or mediation.

Valeria Consales was called to the Ontario bar in 2021, after studying law at the University of Ottawa and earning a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Leicester in England. The practice has handled family and child protection matters and has appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice, the Superior Court of Justice, and the Court of Appeal for Ontario. Its founder holds membership in the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Wellington Law Association. Clients book consultations and reach a secure client portal online, which fits a small firm serving Centre Wellington and the wider county.

Who handles what

The neighbourhood

The office sits on St. Andrew Street West, the main street that runs through the historic core of Fergus. Adam Fergusson and James Webster laid the town out along the Grand River in 1833, and the Scottish settlers who followed built much of the downtown from limestone quarried nearby. That heritage still shows in the street names and the stone storefronts, and it turns up every summer at the Fergus Scottish Festival and Highland Games, held here since 1946.

Fergus is one of two main communities, alongside Elora, in the Township of Centre Wellington within Wellington County. Centre Wellington's population grew about 10.8 per cent between 2016 and 2021, the fastest of any township in the county. For a family practice, that steady growth means a client base of both long-settled households and newer arrivals, and a downtown address keeps the firm close to the people it serves across the township.
