Virtual appointmentsRoutliffe Law is a solo practice based in the village of Erin, in Wellington County, Ontario. Its founder, Robert Routliffe, earned a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Toronto and was called to the Ontario bar in 1984. The firm runs on a come-to-you model. Rather than asking clients into a downtown office, it meets them at home or at their place of business, and it puts the idea plainly: "Your kitchen table is our office. Your meeting room is our boardroom." Keeping overhead low lets the practice charge less than full-service firms, with billing arranged hourly, daily, or by monthly retainer to suit the client.
The work spans wills and estates, real estate, corporate and commercial matters, labour and employment, personal injury, and environmental law. On the estates side, the firm drafts wills and powers of attorney for property and personal care, provides a cost estimate on request, and supervises the signing. Business clients come for startups, shareholders' agreements, and the purchase or sale of a company. When a matter grows beyond what a solo practice should carry, the firm arranges a handoff to a full-service firm. From Erin it also travels to clients in Guelph, Milton, Orangeville, Caledon, and Mississauga.

Payment plansThe office sits on Main Street in the village of Erin, the old mill settlement that grew up along the Credit River and was incorporated as a village in 1879. Erin lies in rural Wellington County, roughly 80 kilometres northwest of Toronto, and the surrounding countryside still turns out for the Erin Fall Fair, an agricultural fair that reached its 175th year in 2025. That spread-out, small-town geography suits a practice built to travel. Many residents commute to Guelph, Mississauga, Brampton, and Toronto, and the firm returns the favour by driving to clients instead of asking them to drive in. A will, a home purchase, or a small-business sale can all be handled at a kitchen table or a shop counter across Erin and the neighbouring townships of Caledon, Halton Hills, and Guelph/Eramosa.
