Virtual appointmentsCheshire Law is a criminal defence practice run by Sarah Cheshire, J.D., as a sole practitioner in Guelph, Ontario. The practice takes only criminal work. It covers a wide span of charges, including assault, theft, driving and impaired driving offences, drug offences, regulatory offences, correctional law matters, and cases involving young people. The office recently moved to Guelph, at 111 Farquhar Street in the city's downtown, and the firm continues to accept cases in Kitchener too. It serves Guelph, Kitchener, Walkerton, and other areas by consultation.
As a roster lawyer with Legal Aid Ontario, Cheshire Law also handles administrative tribunal proceedings, Gladue matters, and the most serious criminal charges. Consultations are always confidential and free. Between Legal Aid, sliding scale rates, and payment plans, the practice offers several ways to handle fees, which can matter for people who need a defence but worry about the cost.

Legal aidCheshire Law works out of the Granary Building at 111 Farquhar Street, one of the oldest industrial buildings in Guelph. It went up in 1858 as a grain depot for the Gooderham and Worts distillery, gained a brick exterior in 1914, and was later restored and renamed the Granary Building. Today it holds professional offices and organizations, including the Guelph Chamber of Commerce, in a downtown spot near the city's central transit and rail station.
The location fits a criminal defence practice. Guelph's courts sit in the same downtown core, with the Ontario Court of Justice on Wyndham Street South and the Superior Court of Justice nearby on Woolwich Street. Serving Guelph alongside Kitchener and Walkerton, the firm covers a stretch of southwestern Ontario from a central base.
