Its roots go back to William Sora Middlebro', a King's Counsel who practiced in the area from the late 1800s into the 1940s. The firm's name changed several times in the decades that followed, from Middlebro' & Van Wyck in the mid 1940s to Horton & Middlebro' by 1970, then Horton, Middlebro' & Stevens after Edmund Stevens joined in 1976. It's operated as Middlebro' & Stevens LLP since 1983, and the firm has now served Owen Sound and the Grey-Bruce counties for more than 75 years.
The firm today is a four-lawyer partnership covering real estate, wills and estates, estate litigation, corporate and commercial law, family law, labour and employment, civil litigation, construction liens, and municipal law, and its lawyers act as provincial offences prosecutors for several Grey-Bruce municipalities.
