About Wakelin Law PC

Wakelin Law PC is a personal injury litigation firm in Whitby, Ontario, founded by John Wakelin. Wakelin practiced law for more than 30 years before starting the firm, beginning at one of Canada's largest national firms and then spending over 20 years as an insurance defence lawyer at a Whitby litigation firm. Roughly a decade ago, Wakelin switched sides to represent plaintiffs instead, founding Wakelin Law PC to put that insurance defence background to work for injured clients.

The firm concentrates on personal injury litigation, including brain injury, orthopedic injuries, motor vehicle accidents, slip and fall claims, disability claims, and product liability. Wakelin holds a B.A. from Western University, completed graduate work at York University, and earned a law degree from Queen's University in 1993, winning the David Sabbath academic prize there. Courtroom experience includes jury and non-jury trials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, plus appearances before the Ontario Court of Appeal and the Divisional Court. Wakelin is also a qualified mediator, trained through the Stitt Feld Handy Group, and takes on mediations through the Superior Court's mandatory mediation program in Whitby. The firm works on contingency for injury files and represents clients across Durham Region, the GTA, and parts of central Ontario.
