Mitchell is admitted to the Law Society of Ontario, the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, and the Law Society of Prince Edward Island, and built a personal injury practice in Atlantic Canada before narrowing this firm's focus to disability law alone. Other lawyers on the team are graduates of Dalhousie's Schulich School of Law and are admitted to the Nova Scotia Barristers' Society, with one also belonging to the Law Society of Ontario. The firm also keeps a physician on staff: Dr. Laura Mitchell is an emergency room doctor licensed by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia, with specialist training in occupational medicine, and reviews medical evidence alongside the legal team.
