About Sylvie

Sylvie Poirier has dedicated her career to professional disciplinary law, developing particular expertise involving participants in the financial sector. She regularly represents trustees and assistant trustees before disciplinary and appeal bodies of various professional orders and other regulatory organizations, and also acts as an ad hoc trustee for investigation and representation mandates. Poirier was called to the Quebec Bar in 1990 after earning her law degree from Université de Montréal in 1988. She has served on the Barreau de Montréal's liaison committees with the Bureau de décision et de révision and the Tribunal des professions, was a member of the Quebec Bar's disciplinary committee from 2004 to 2009, and has taught and published extensively on professional discipline, including a book on the subject.
