About Steven

Steven Slimovitch is a criminal defence lawyer who has practiced in Montreal since opening his own practice in September 1991, representing individuals and corporations facing charges under the Criminal Code, the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, the Income Tax Act, and Quebec's Highway Safety Code. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Canadian Politics from McGill University in 1987 and a law degree from Université Laval in 1990. He has appeared before all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada, where he was involved in cases that shaped Canadian law on freedom of religion and the validity of certain search warrants. He has served as President of the Lord Reading Law Society, sits on the board of B'nai Brith Canada affiliated housing organizations, and has taught continuing legal education courses on criminal law for the Barreau de Québec. Slimovitch received the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2012 for community leadership and has served on the Board of Directors of the Barreau de Montréal.
