About Shelly
Shelly Banihashemi is a barrister, solicitor and principal lawyer who has practised family law exclusively since being called to the bar in 2011. Before starting a private practice in 2021, Shelly clerked, articled and worked as an associate at two well-known boutique family law firms in the GTA. That work covers separation and divorce, property division, custody and access, support, marriage contracts, and adoptions, including high-conflict parenting disputes and complex property claims. A certified collaborative lawyer who favours cooperative resolutions, Shelly regularly appears before the Ontario Court of Justice and Superior Court of Justice when court becomes necessary, and speaks Farsi and serves on the equality, diversity and inclusion committee of the York Region Law Association.
