Sébastien Gagnon graduated from Université Laval in 2000 and was admitted to the Barreau du Québec the same year. He began his career as a Crown prosecutor in Gatineau in 2001, focusing on impaired driving, sexual assault, and theft and fraud cases, and later became head of the office's penal division. In 2006 Gagnon moved to Leblanc Donaldson as a defence lawyer handling criminal, penal and administrative matters, and in 2015 he co-founded CSG Avocats with Paul Charlebois and Michel Swanston, now the largest criminal law firm in the Outaouais region. He appears before the Municipal Court, the Court of Québec, and on appeal before the Superior Court, as well as various administrative tribunals, and has particular experience with impaired and dangerous driving, sexual assault, assault, and theft and fraud cases. His practice also covers infraction notices under the Highway Safety Code and before bodies such as the Commission de la construction du Québec, the Régie du bâtiment du Québec, and the Autorité des marchés financiers, along with professional discipline matters for notaries, doctors, architects and real estate brokers. Gagnon has taught criminal law at the École du Barreau for close to ten years and at La Cité collégiale, and mentors new lawyers for the Barreau du Québec. He received an excellence award from the Association des avocats et avocates de la défense du Québec for his work on impaired-driving cases.
