About Rita

Rita Richardson practices family law with a particular focus on pensions and benefits, an area where few other Alberta lawyers have her depth of experience. She was called to the Alberta Bar in 1990 and the Manitoba Bar in 1991, and later earned a Certificate in Pension Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2013. Her practice covers pre-marital and cohabitation agreements, separation and divorce, parenting arrangements, and child and spousal support, and she frequently provides pension and benefits guidance to other lawyers and their clients in collaborative family law, employment, and estates matters. Rita is a member of the Program Committee of the Canadian Pensions and Benefits Institute (Alberta South) and has served on the National Judicial Compensation Committee of the Canadian Bar Association and the National Fundraising Committee for the Legal Education and Action Fund (LEAF). She sits on the Board of Directors of the Children's Legal and Educational Resource Centre, chairing its Legal Advisory Committee, and received the WR Fraser Medal from Concordia University.
